Forum Poprad opens, Multi’s first shopping centre in Slovakia

Forum Poprad opened its doors today and welcomed thousands of visitors. Forum Poprad is Multi’s first shopping centre in Slovakia and is situated in the city centre of Poprad and in the heart of the High Tatra mountain region. Forum Poprad covers an area of 22,000 m2 of retail and leisure on three levels with 420 parking spaces and features a large terrace on the upper level to accentuate the view of local scenery. The centre offers a full international mix of shops, well accessed convenience and a majestic view of the local mountain peaks. Multi developed and owns Forum Poprad in a joint venture with Gemo Holding, one of the leading construction companies in the Czech Republic. Multi is responsible for the management of the shopping centre.

A small masterpiece
Forum Poprad is located directly in the city centre on the former site of the old Prior department store. The former site and buildings had been abandoned for many years, but now the city has reclaimed the area and restored it to its former shopping glory. According to Luboš Kočí, Country Manager of Multi Czech Republic and Slovakia, the L-shaped shopping centre fits well into its urban environment like “a small masterpiece” following the incline of the terrain, and matching the scale of the surrounding buildings and city. “The centre looks and feels as if it has always been there.” Natural wood facades, green planting and climbing ivy complete the picture. The Forum Poprad design concept was developed jointly by TTDesign, Multi’s in-house design group acclaimed for its outstanding urban development and architectural concepts and the local architects of ArchDesign from the Czech Republic.

New brands and 98% occupancy at opening
Forum Poprad opened with 98% of the shop area leased with an attractive tenant mix including over 100 brands, aimed at a wide spectrum of consumers, from lower and mid-range to the high end of the market such as Tesco supermarket, H&M, C&A, Lindex, New Yorker, 5 LPP brands (Reserved, Sinsay, Cropp, House, Mohito), Lee Cooper, Time Out, Intersport, A3 Sport, Planeo Electro, DM drogerie, Martinus, Bata, CCC, Tchibo, Tom Tailor, John Garfield, Dracik, and Pepco, plus a wide variety of restaurants and cafés as well as 1,000 m2 Golem fitness, banks and other services. The project offers several retailers who are new to the city, such as Benetton, Gaastra and Apple Store. This is primarily due to the suitable lay-out of the centre providing variable unit sizes and direct access.
