Amsterdam, 20 November 2019

The Sting Companies has signed a lease contract for its retail formula Distrikt Nørrebro with a.s.r. real estate and Multi Netherlands. The lease is for Lijnbaan 130, which is part of FORUM Rotterdam, and was closed by a.s.r. real estate on behalf of its ASR Property Fund NV.

This large 1,700-sq.m retail unit at Lijnbaan 130 consists of two floors, with 550 sq.m of this located on the ground floor. The iconic 15-metre frontage is three floors high and was designed by international architectural firm OMA. Multi expects to deliver the store in the spring of 2020.

Hubert Stech, Managing Director Multi Germany and Benelux, says: “We are proud of this new retail brand for FORUM Rotterdam. Combined with retailers such as Costes, Seven Sisters, Hollister and G-Star, Distrikt Nørrebro will help make this section of the Lijnbaan a crowd-pulling fashion hotspot in the heart of Rotterdam. The mix of shopping, living, working, sport, eating and drinking and the attractive offering will anchor the complex in the city and add life after closing hours. We see the FORUM project as a major injection for the centre of Rotterdam.”

FORUM Rotterdam
FORUM Rotterdam is a joint project of a.s.r. real estate, Syntrus Achmea Real Estate & Finance and Multi Netherlands, located between Rotterdam’s top shopping streets Coolsingel, Binnenwegplein, Lijnbaan and Beurstraverse. The multi-functional project has 64,000 sq.m of space for retail, food and beverage outlets and offices and consists of a renovated listed building, and 103 liberalised sector apartments in an office block that has undergone a major transformation.

Frits Tonnaer, Asset Manager at a.s.r. real estate: “Soon everyone will be able to see and experience the end result. FORUM will be a place in the centre of Rotterdam where people will enjoy shopping again. Good retail formulas, such as Distrikt Nørrebro, contribute to the attractiveness of the shopping area in the city centre of Rotterdam.”

The Sting Companies
The Sting opened its first store in 1982 and now has stores in both large and small cities across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The retail chain, which in addition to the The Sting includes formulas Costes, Distrikt Nørrebro and Cotton Club, focuses on men’s and women’s fashion and designs its own collections under labels including Bien Bleu, Anti Blue, Hallinger, Seven Sisters and Ashes to Dust. The Distrikt Nørrebro formula is inspired by Scandinavian fashion and minimalist streetwear.

Rotterdam-based Nieuw Holland Vastgoed managed the leasing on behalf of Multi Netherlands and a.s.r. real estate. Lijnbaan 130 is owned by the ASR Property Fund NV. The Sting Companies was advised by retail specialist KroesePaternotte.
