Multi Corporation has today announced the commencement of work on a €32 million reconfiguration and extension of Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin, Ireland. The 5,100-sq.m development will comprise eight retail units including Aldi and JD Sports, which will both let flagship units.

Supermarket giant Aldi will open a new 20,000 sq ft store, while sports and fashion retailer JD Sports will take up residence at a new 15,000 sq ft unit. With over 180 stores in total, Blanchardstown Centre is anchored by the recently upgraded Dunnes Stores, as well as M&S, Penneys and Debenhams. Car parking totals 6,750 spaces.

This investment will create 125 permanent positions, with an additional 150-200 jobs created during the construction phase of the project. Blanchardstown Centre currently generates employment for over 5,500 people.

Pat Nash, Managing Director of Multi Ireland, said: “The commencement of construction on this new phase at Blanchardstown Centre represents a key milestone in the creation of an improved shopping experience for our customers. The new investment and upgrade offers exciting opportunities for retailers to thrive in one of Ireland’s leading retail locations.”

Shopping at Blanchardstown Centre will not be impacted by the works and operating hours will remain as usual.
